Evolve Five-Hundred Access Service

Evolve ® Five-Hundred Access service (FAS) routes calls with numbers that have a non-geographically based area code. The 533 NPA and 699 NXX codes are traditionally used in this service.

Using FAS, calls from subscribers to the customer’s server to 500 numbers not associated with the customer will be routed to another carrier based on the NXX digits in the number, and calls to 500 numbers whose NXX numbers are associated with the customer will be routed to the subscribers who have purchased those numbers.

For example, when a customer dials a 5YY-NXX-XXXX number, it will encounter the 3 digit NPA Public Office Dial Plan (PODP) trigger and launch a query.

FAS includes a ready-to-use web-based user interface for easy access to modify number forwarding destinations and other functionality and different layouts for the various user roles to edit and prioritize the features of FAS.

The FAS API is also available to allow developers to programmatically integrate FAS with network elements and systems and gives additional flexibility with how FAS is offered to customers.

Non-Geographic Connections

FAS offers a simple way to complete a call on a number-to-number basis. The Subscribers and Service Providers will be able to change which numbers are forwarded.

Geographic Connections

FAS now offers Number to Service Point Code to Number calling. This feature enables Service Providers to establish call treatments from one number to another and to route call treatments to a different number based on geographic location.

Separation of Roles

FAS is designed for multi-tenancy with three distinct roles. These roles are Platform Owners, Service Providers, and Subscribers. Each of these roles have their own responsibilities and functions.

Platform Owners

The Platform Owner is the entity that deploys the network which runs FAS. The Platform Owner is responsible for defining physical egress routes and other network specifics. Additionally, Platform Owners create and define Service Providers.

Service Providers

A Service Provider is the entity that offers FAS as a service to Subscribers. The Service Provider is responsible for defining numbers and associated routing behavior, allocating numbers to Subscribers, and determining the amount of customization for Subscribers.

Subscribers

Subscribers are the individuals or business entities that subscribe to the FAS service. Subscribers’ calls are routed based on the numbers and routing behavior designated to them by Service Providers. Subscribers may be given access to edit the forwarding options for their numbers.

Signaling

FAS is deployed in the network and is designed to handle AIN signals to process call routing behavior.

The rest of this chapter details the specific call flow of various call treatments.
